Mary's Book of Dreams - hints

Use as many hints as you need for a fun evening!

The hints below are sorted per scannable page and give a good order to approach the Book of Dreams. Always keep the Society's assignment in mind:

1. Clocks

Hint 1

Once you scan the illustration using the provided app, you can turn the clock hands on-screen.

Hint 2

Have you noticed any reference to times in the text? Not all clocks have to be set to the right time. See if you can find clues on which ones you need, and on which time they need to be set.

Hint 3

You need 5 clocks.

Solution part 1

Table clock with moon and star: 6:15
Clock with feather hands below table clock: 4:00
Big clock with little crown: 10:08
Classic alarm clock: 10:37
Station clock hanging from an ornament: 9:23

Solution part 2

After setting the clocks correctly, you get the word: TESLA

2. Maze

Hint 1

After scanning the image with the app provided, you can tilt your phone to make the copper ball roll over the selection of ingredients you need.

Hint 2

The ingredients need to be collected in the right order. Is there anything in the diary that might indicate an order?

Solution part 1

Ingredient 1: Square yellow flowers: Ruta Graveolens
Ingredient 2: Archangel: Angelica Archangelica
Ingredient 3: Valerian Root: Valeriana Officinalis
Ingredient 4: Purple flower: Pulmonaria Officinalis
Ingredient 5: Round green leaves with dewdrops: Alchemica Mollis

Solution part 2

Collecting them in this order will give you the word: AMBROSIA

3. Animals

Hint 1

The illustration can not be scanned unless you manipulate it somehow to form a scannable image. There are lines on the page. What could you do with the paper to create a new image?

Hint 2

You need to fold the pages somehow. Make sure you keep the surface as flat as possible after folding to scan the image. After scanning, you can let go.

Solution part 1

First fold the corner with the fish along the line to the center.
Then fold the corner with the crab along the line over the already folded corner.

Fold the corner with the ram along the line to the center. Then fold the corner with the lion along the line over the already folded corner.

You can now scan the page.

Solution part 2

You can see a planetary system now. You can turn the planetary system using your finger to change the perspective. In this way, you can find 3 letters. Together they form the word: PAM.
